This section is my summary of studying and practicing Health and Home Economics.
Health and Home Economics, this is the ninth (9th) subject in our homeschooling curriculum. While, Health is very similar to and has many things in common with Physical Education we have focused our studies on more of the biological outcomes of what we do physically, mentally, and spiritually. This is more than a study in what we ate, but it is a study in what the plant or animal ate. Another way to put this is, “You are what you ate.” Another area to focus our thinking on is that sometimes it’s not all about what we ate but what’s eating us. Involved in these studies is our “Home Economics”.
We have included in our daily life and pursuit of education the science of observation. It is not enough to wait for some new revelation in medicine to solve our problems, but the observation of the millenniums worth of history and empirical data that we have recorded will reveal man’s footprints for us. Simply put, these are the areas that God promised that He would not be mocked in, Galatians 6:7, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
I enjoy discovering new foods that not only taste good, but make me feel good. Studying how the human body works is a real wonder, but seeing how science and physics is a constant whether hidden in the most infinitesimal areas of a cell or reaching to the outer most rim of the universe.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your gifts of Knowledge, Understanding, and Wisdom that you freely give to those who ask for it.
