PHP is a server-side scripting language. It is used to enrich people’s webpages with a diversity of information and interactivity, such as: databases, forums; login, registration, and contact forms.
I use XAMPP to run PHP locally and learn without paying for a test server or using part of my site to do this. XAMPP allows me to run the Apache Server, which is what runs PHP, MySQL Databases, FileZilla, and more, all from our local computers. I have read the book “Robin Nixon’s PHP Crash Course,” so that way I can better understand the fundamentals of the language.
Sometimes, I use WordPress locally through XAMPP and its PHP for testing and making plugins. All other PHP that I develop is here on my website for display. I hope to one day be able to use PHP to interact with MySQL and other things, like AJAX.
